“D’oh! I mean S-M-A-R-T!” Grades are in this quarter, and I’m certainly happy to say that I’ve done better in my first legitimate grad-school semester than I ever did in undergrad, where I twice missed the Dean’s list by a mere 7/100 of a Grade-Point. Where are you?

I recently added the ClustrMaps feature to the blog. I think it kicks ass. It’s cool to see where the people who view your blog are located (or at least, where their servers are located.) Some of them, I feel reasonably certain about – for instance, Kip might be the dot on Iceland, where he recently vacationed. I’ve got friends who recently moved to Cali, and Florida. No Child Left, ummm, behind.

To follow up on the recent legislative orgy about the No Child Left Behind movement: Michigan is considering Statewide standards that would require that every student pass Algebra II as a prerequisite for graduation. Everyone? This presupposes that everyone can pass Algebra II; and I think that’s clearly not the case. That’s akin to supposing that everyone is capable of being an NBA baller one day, if only they hit the gym hard enough...
