Recently I posted about the increased speed limits on a handful of Texas roads, which drew the ire of my most prolific commenter, Sanjay. In his comments, he challenged my assertion that the 85th percentile is regarded as the safest speed. He claimed his instinct told him that my sources (a 25 year police veteran) was “wrong” or had been fed incorrect information. A quick web-search of “85th percentile driving” will yield a number of results, that seem to unanimously approve of my position.
