Violence: Not Just for the Inner Cities Anymore
Last week, Matt lamented the recent shootings in the ghetto, where he resides.
But, violence isn’t limited to gun-toting pistoleros tearing up Trumbull. No, in the ‘burbs, we see more of the “postal” syndrome: Employee is fired, returns a week later to seek revenge on boss, shoots boss, innocents, turns weapon on himself. For example, right now the helicopters are circling my office building, as just such a gun-toting, disgruntled employee, has reportedly shot at least three people in an office building – literally across the street. He was an employee of an accounting firm, so I could make a crack about how he should be happy he doesn’t have to deal with tax-season this year, but that’s a little off-color, even for me.
What’s scary about this sort of violence, is that it seems a lot more random than urban violence. Shifty thugs can be avoided. Cubicle ambushes, pretty much can’t.

Um. Holy Crap!
I do worry about that stuff a little. I mean, I avoid trouble, and it would really piss me off to have that kind of trouble go out of its way to find me.
I appreciate your restraint with the off-color cracks. It must be difficult, but you are strong-willed.
[My friend John said last night, "Looks like he wanted to do some firing of his own..." - hilarious if it weren't so tragic.]
