Deputy Bullies Quadriplegic Man, Dumps Him From His Wheelchair
I saw this on the Today Show, this morning. It is video evidence of a Sheriff’s Deputy dumping a quadriplegic man from his wheelchair. Because he houldn’t stand up—a factt the man made clear to the Deputy. Perhaps the Deputy thought the man was faking it. I don’t know. But it seems inexcusable, to me. The victim of this brutality is considering legal actions, but in his interview this morning he spoke candidly and said that an apology from the Deputy would probably put everything right. I’d be asking for a refund.
The incident happened several weeks ago, and was only recently made public by a reporter. The offending deputy has been placed on leave without pay. In case you’re wondering, three supervisors have also been suspended (although, with pay) for failing to report the incident.
To serve and protect, indeed.
