Scarlett, what in the context of my post caused you to start babbling on about Humana? Nowhere did I defend the American system, which is fatally flawed, as well. The average Medicare Advantage monthly premium (I think almost all seniors are eligible for this) is something like $42/month. Put it in perspective: I'm 28 and healthy, my premiums are 5 times as expensive.

And the news that Humana is raising its pricing on drug plans which will result in 2 million seniors dropping (or rather being pushed) out of those plans in a move to boost the bottom line proves that the “market” is a better solution? It may be a better solution for the business of healthcare, but it is certainly not a better solution for the person.

It is a pity that what should be a fundamental human right is treated as nothing more than another profit machine.
