I made it to six miles yesterday evening, which is one mile further than I’ve ever run at once. And until last week, I hadn’t run 5 miles since I was 17 – and about 40 pounds lighter. Needless to say, spending an hour in the cold gives you plenty of time to think about things and come up with ideas. Last night was just such a night, all I needed was a real-world example. Final Thoughts (for now) on Morality & Paramilitary Raids
[edited to fix broken links and to clarify some vague vocabulary - 10.17am, Nov. 30.] Introduction Earlier this week, I wrote a short series of long posts (here and here) regarding morality, self-defense, and warrant-authorized home invasion, in response to a recent incident in which a really old lady was gunned down after exchanging fire with law-enforcement officers who entered her home “dynamically” in the middle of the night. score one for the little guys (or at least the out-of-staters)
The other day, I saw the news I wanted to see . . . I first heard about the situation here in Michigan a few months ago on the radio, but because I’m lazy I hadn’t paid much attention to it of late. Anyways, the situation was that Michigan had enacted a law forbidding the interstate sale of liquors/beers/wines – that is, you couldn’t buy mail order booze. It comes as no surprise that the “Special Interests” behind this legislation were the Michigan based alcohol distributors, and to an extent, some of the state’s vinyards.
